Storyteller. World-builder. Voice artist. Medieval reenactor.
Someone who has been writing fiction since age 9…
…and hasn’t stopped.

✦ The Short Version ✦

MJ Blehart - Storyteller

I’m a storyteller, dreamer, philosopher, geek, writer, editor, voice artist, medieval reenactor, and more. I’ve been writing fiction since I was 9 years old, my first completed story was an illustrated, 50-page hand-written sci-fi adventure called Wildfire.

My primary fiction work is science fiction and fantasy, with a focus on world-building and character-driven narratives. I believe in creating immersive universes where readers can lose themselves in extraordinary adventures, and I’ve been building them, one book at a time, since 2013.

I’m based in New Jersey, USA. When I’m not writing, I can be found at medieval reenactments, hiking exploring philosophy and mindfulness, or spending time with my wife and my 3 feline overlords (you know – cats).

How Do You Choose Your Author Identity?

MJ Blehart with his books

Writing has been a constant thread through MJ’s life. From hand-written sci-fi adventures as a child to 20+ published novels today, the drive to create worlds and tell stories has never wavered.

MJ’s fiction spans sci-fi, fantasy, and steampunk, often blending genres in unexpected ways. Savagespace puts classic Dungeons & Dragons races into a space opera. The Void Incursion is strategic military sci-fi. The Vapor Rogues layers magic over a steampunk world above the clouds. Each universe is intentionally distinct.

Beyond fiction, MJ writes extensively about mindfulness, self-encouragement, and conscious reality creation under his full name, Murray “MJ” Blehart, drawing from years of blogging on The Philosophy of the Titanium Don.

Life Beyond the Page

Writing is only part of the picture. I’m a voice artist, a lifelong medieval reenactor,
and I love a good conversation about craft, creativity, and storytelling.
Here’s a look at the rest of it.

The Medieval Reenactor

When I’m not building worlds on the page, I’m helping bring an older one to life. Medieval reenactment has been part of my life for years, and the same things pull me in as the writing does: the detail, the craft, and the stories people tell when they step into another time.

It feeds the fiction more than you’d think. Armour, combat, the weight of a real sword, the way a camp actually runs, all of it ends up sharpening how I write a battle or a world.
